Spray Tanning is one of the most in demand salon treatments and will equip you with the skills necessary to deliver flawless spray tan applications to commercial standards. An excellent opportunity for existing therapists to add this skill to their services, or those seeking entry to the industry, by renting space within hair/nail salons, gyms or work from home. Theory and practical techniques (i.e. strap lines & sunburn blending) are provided.

Eyelash Grafting

Duration: 1 Day

All materials provided.

The hottest beauty trend to sweep the world today. The stars do not leave home without a set of glamour eyelash extensions, supermodels are always wearing their eyelash extensions, and entertainers have known about eyelash extensions for years.

This short course covers the application of eyelash extensions to the natural lash. These single synthetic polyester fibres are bonded on to the natural lashes to enhance length and thickness and to curl with a natural finish.

Eyelash & Eyebrow Tinting

Duration: 1 Day

Brazilian Waxing

Duration: 1 Day

Brazilian Waxing is total or partial genital hair removal. This course develops the techniques which need to be applied to safely and correctly perform this type of hair removal.

Pre-requisites: Waxing (Facial and Body) or equivalent

Refresher Course

Duration: 10 Days

This course is designed for those who already hold an existing beauty qualification, but have been out of industry and wish to re-enter a salon environment with confidence. The program will be tailored to your individual requirements by our Director of Studies, and will be delivered by our highly qualified and experienced trainers.

You decide what you want to learn and when, and we will make it happen. Courses begin at the beginning of every month, or otherwise by negotiation. Programs can be delivered over 10 consecutive days, or break up the program days as you see fit.

At MCOHB, we have a very busy salon which is open to the public at greatly reduced prices, so many, if not all of your practical tasks will be undertaken on live models.

You must supply all of your own tools, as well as a manikin head to practice on if you wish.

At the end of your 10 day program if you are still not confident, we can offer you an additional 10 days tuition at no extra cost.

Hot Stone Therapy

Duration: 3 Days

Increasingly popular style of massage due to the benefits which cannot be reached by massage alone. These heated volcanic basalt stones retain heat when applied. Add this unique treatment to your range of skills and provide clients with an indulgent and relaxing experience.

• Consult with client and plan the treatment
• Provide stone therapy massage
• Follow post-treatment procedures

Electrolysis

Duration: 10 Weeks

Pre-requisites: Diploma graduates or studying Diploma of Beauty Therapy or for students who have evidence of significant and relevant vocational experience relating to the application of human biology, anatomy and physiology knowledge in their respective field.

The Electrolysis Short Course is designed to provide an esthetician/beauty therapist with extra skills and knowledge of hair removal skills through the use of electrolysis. You will have the opportunity to understand and perform electrolysis.

Topics include:

• Confirm treatment plan
• Prepare client for electrolysis service and perform patch test
• Perform permanent hair removal
• Review treatment and provide post treatment advice

Materials: Participants are required to supply their own needles & models

Eyelash Perming

Duration: 1/2 Day

Clients with straight eyelashes can now have a semi permanent lift – giving the same effect as using eyelash curlers. A completely safe treatment. The eyelashes are adhered to a mini roller and a mild perming product is used to curl them for up to 3 months.

Please Note: You will need to supply 1 model.

Manicure or Pedicure

Duration: 5 Days each

Manicure & Pedicure are separate courses.

Ear Piercing

Duration: 1/2 Day

This course is for those wishing to gain the skills and knowledge required to pierce ear lobes for ornamentation. MCOHB supplies all equipment ifor this course. However, an ear piercing kit is available to be purchased should you wish and can be done before commencing the course.

You are required to sit a multiple choice test and will be tested practically on the use of the gun and on sanitization procedures.

• Prices available upon application.
• Graduates of Melbourne College of Hair and Beauty (MCOHB) are not charged for the refresher course.
