Short Courses in Hairdressing

Refresher Course

Duration: 10 Days

This course is designed for those who already hold an existing hairdressing qualification, but have been out of industry and wish to re-enter a salon environment with confidence. The program will be tailored to your individual requirements by our Director of Studies, and will be delivered by our highly qualified and experienced trainers.

You decide what you want to learn and when, and we will make it happen. Courses begin at the beginning of every month, or otherwise by negotiation. Programs can be delivered over 10 consecutive days, or break up the program days as you see fit.

At MCOHB, we have a very busy salon which is open to the public at greatly reduced prices, so many, if not all of your practical tasks will be undertaken on live models.

You must supply all of your own tools, as well as a manikin head to practice on if you wish.

At the end of your 10 day program if you are still not confident, we can offer you an additional 10 days tuition at no extra cost.

Hair Styling for Bridal Industry

Duration: 2 days

Designed for hairdressers who wish to specialise in the bridal or formal market. Enables you to design and apply long hair finishes.

Topics Covered

• The latest bridal styles and including
• Adding hair pieces
• Classic styles 1950’s
• Hair up and down styles
• Trial tips
• Hot roller setting technique
• Blow waving techniques

You must supply all of your own tools including:
Hot rollers, clamp, hair dryer, tail comb, round brushes, bobby pins, and manikin head.

Hair Extensions

Duration: 3 Days

Designed to include communication, analysis, planning and then selection of the hair, preparing materials and applying hair extensions to create finished hair designs.

Professional Cut & Colour

Duration: 10 days

Increase your chemical knowledge and cutting skills.

This course is recommended for individuals who wish to increase their skills in cutting and colouring. It will increase your knowledge in the following areas of creative colour and cutting combination, cutting skills and colour techniques and intensive reds and lightening effects.

You must supply all of your own tools and a manikin head.

Men’s Hair Cutting

Duration: 5 days

Take your skills to the next level for your own benefit or for your job and clientele.

• Men’s fashion techniques
• Razor cutting
• Texturising “scissor over comb” and clipper cutting

Long Hair Design

Duration: 1 day

For those wishing to enhance their long hair techniques.

Topics Covered

• Use of equipment & products
• Identify different hair types
• Apply fundamentals of design
• Apply classic & contemporary long hair design

• Short courses are non-accredited courses specialising in specific skills. Students receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course.
• Prices available upon application.
• Graduates of Melbourne College of Hair and Beauty (MCOHB) are not charged for the refresher course.
• All short course deposits are non-refundable.
